Porch Theft, Mail Theft Reported In Manalapan Last Week
A package was stolen from a Craig Road porch; another resident had a package worth $1,450 taken from the mail, Manalapan police report.
MANALAPAN, NJ — Police reported two incidents involving theft from the mail last week in the township.
- Dec. 2: A resident, 43, reported to police that someone removed a package, valued at $375, from the porch of a Craig Road residence. Patrolman Abdoulaye Diagne handled the report.
- Dec. 4: A Manalapan resident, 43, told police that someone stole a package, valued at $1,450, from the mail. Patrolman Joseph Santomarco handled the report.
There were several instances of theft and burglary in the township, including the theft of a car from a convenience store parking lot:
- Nov. 29: A Manalapan resident, 26, reported that someone stole a motor vehicle from the Wawa parking lot, 345 Union Hill Road. The motor vehicle was located, abandoned in Newark. Patrolman Everett McNulty handled the report.
- Dec. 4: A Manalapan resident, 85, reported that someone removed miscellaneous jewelry of an unknown value from a Route 33 residence. Patrolman Marshall Bitsko handled the report.
- Dec. 1: A Manalapan resident, 77, reported that someone illegally entered an Applegate Terrace residence. No items were reported stolen as a result of this incident. Patrolman Matthew Parke handled the report.
- Nov. 30: A Freehold resident, 84, told police that someone stole $100 from an ATM that was briefly left unattended while completing a financial transaction at the Wegman’s Supermarket, 55 Route 9 in Manalapan. Patrolman Matthew Schwartz handled the report.
- Nov. 29: A Manalapan resident, 41, told police someone entered an unlocked motor vehicle that was parked at a Deer Way residence and removed property valued at $3,268.79. Patrolman Edward Burns handled the report.
- Nov. 29: A Manalapan resident, 35, told police that unknown people unsuccessfully attempted to enter a Grandview Lane residence. Patrolman Matthew Mattia handled the report.

- Dec. 2: A Manalapan resident, 59, reported that an unknown person forged a bank check and unlawfully withdrew $9,700 from the victim’s bank account. Patrolman Michael DeCristofaro handled the report.
- Nov. 30: A Marlboro resident, 75, told police an unknown person, purporting to be an employee of the electric company, defrauded them in the amount of $980. Patrolman Christopher Capuzzo handled the report.
- Nov. 30: An Alpine resident, 33, reported that an unknown person used the victim's personal information and created a fraudulent social media post. Patrolman Matthew Schwartz handled the report.
Other crimes reported include:
- Dec. 1: A Marlboro resident, 60, reported to police that an unknown person vandalized a flag on the property of Temple Shaari Emeth, 400 Craig Road in Manalapan. Patrolman Marshall Bitsko handled the report.
- Dec. 1: Employees of Target, 55 Route 9 in Manalapan, reported that an unknown person stole $230.96 worth of merchandise from the store. Patrolman Marshall Bitsko handled the report.
The matters are pending investigation, police said.
