Quarterly Tax Payment Grace Period Extended In Manalapan
An extended grace period through Aug. 24 is set by the township for third quarter property taxes; new tax bills will be mailed out July 27.
MANALAPAN, NJ —Third quarter property tax bills will be mailed to residents on July 27, extending the grace period for payment to Aug. 24, the township says.
On or about July 27, the final 2023/2024 preliminary tax bills will be mailed.
Taxes for the third quarter are due on Aug. 1, however, the township permits a 10-day grace period.

But, due to the delayed mailing, the grace period has been extended to 4 p.m., Aug. 24.
Third quarter tax bills are routinely delayed in municipalities throughout the state as the state finalizes its budget, including state aid, at the end of June and the County Tax Administrator approves the final bills. The townships bill for and collect the taxes due for the schools and county.

According to the township website, the 2023 municipal purposes tax rate will be 28.5 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, down from 30.7 cents in 2022. This tax rate represents an annual increase of $67.32 on the average assessed home, with an average assessment of $610,070. Property values have been increasing throughout the area.
The township noted that 17 percent of the tax dollar is used for municipal purposes, with the other taxes raised for regional elementary and high school districts, county taxes, fire district and open space tax.
Payments received after 4 p.m. on Aug. 24 will accrue interest charges calculated from the original due date of Aug. 1.
Payments may be made by mail, on the township website, online through your bank bill pay service or placed in our drop box. The drop box is located on the left wall outside of the municipal building.
The Tax Collector’s office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Payments left in the drop box after 4 p.m. will be considered received as of the next business day.
The Tax Collector's Office will have extended hours on Thursday, Aug. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
