Running Car Briefly Stolen From Starbucks Lot In Manalapan

Manalapan police recovered a running car stolen when the owner popped into Starbucks. But it was burglarized of $5,000 in valuables.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A Freehold resident who stopped at a Manalapan Starbucks had his running car stolen from the parking lot, police said.

On July 5, the victim, 40, told police the car was stolen while he was at Starbucks, 310 Route 9, in Manalapan.

The unoccupied vehicle was parked, unlocked and running, police said, when someone took the car.

The car was recovered soon after on Route 9 north in Manalapan, police said.

But approximately $5,000 worth of items was reported missing from the vehicle, the owner said.

Patrolman Aaron Abeles handled the report, which is pending further investigation.

Meanwhile, another unlocked car was entered on July 5 at about 5:30 a.m., a Manalapan resident, 62, reported to police.

The resident said three unknown people tried to enter vehicles that were parked at a Brittany Court residence.

One vehicle was unlocked and the suspects are reported to have removed approximately $20 in cash and change from the vehicle.
