Wemrock Brook School May Highlights

Check out the school's highlights from May 2013.

The following highlights are submitted by Irene Policastro, the Secretary to Superintendent John J. Marciante of the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District.

Testing, Testing, and more Testing…
All over the state, students in grades 3-5 participated in the NJ ASK testing. Grades 3 and 5 participated in 4 days of testing (2 days of mathematics and 2 days of reading/writing), while students in grade 4 had an extra day to test in science. We are proud of all of our students for their hard work!

Music to our Ears
The Wemrock Brook Singers entertained the children and staff at two school assemblies. This year’s theme brought us to the Jersey shore and tropical islands. Families and friends enjoyed the evening performance. In addition, to the beautiful melodic voices, the students also narrated the entire performance. We thank Laurie Bischof, vocal music teacher, for an outstanding performance.

Busy Month for our Orchestra and Band
Our Beginner and Intermediate Band, under the direction of Mr. Hans Muhler, entertained the audiences with favorites. The Beginner and Intermediate Orchestras performed their spring concerts for students, faculty, family and friends under the direction of Ms. Shannon Chase. The orchestras and bands also showcased their talents at an evening performance for family and friends.

Math Olympics
Students in fifth grade participated in an all-day math marathon. Teams competed against each other in games such as: Fraction Zap, Concentration, Skunk and Plunger Man. What a great way to foster a love of math. Congratulations to all of our math champions!

PTA News
The talented moms of our PTA hosted a staff luncheon in celebration of Teacher Recognition Day. The food, decorations and atmosphere were a treat for all! It sure did make everyone feel special and so much appreciated.
