The Patriot Polar Plunge Returns to Sea Girt!
Get ready to brave the cold for a cause that warms the heart. The Patriot Polar Plunge returns to Sea Girt on Saturday, February 7, 2026, bringing together community members, veterans, families, and supporters for a morning giving back and remembrance.
This year marks the 5th Annual Patriot Polar Plunge, presented by Sea Girt Recreation, and once again benefiting the Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity’s LIFT Fund for Veterans, which provides free home repairs for eligible veterans in Monmouth County.
The plunge also honors New Jersey State Police Sgt. Juan Fajardo, who died in an off-duty motorcycle accident in 2021. He also served with the New Jersey Army National Guard. Fajardo’s family continues to support the event, and their presence adds deep meaning to the day.
Patriot Polar Plunge Details at a Glance

- 9:00 AM – Registration Opens

- 11:00 AM – After-Party & Breakfast Buffet at Rod’s Tavern
- 12:15 PM - 50/50 Raffle Draw at Rod's (you do not need to be present to win).
In 2025, more than 500 plungers ran into the icy Atlantic Ocean and helped to raise almost $60,000 for Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity’s LIFT Fund. Event organizers are expecting another great turn-out, so don't miss out — sign up now!
Mike D’Altrui, the Event Coordinator and Chair of the Sea Girt Recreation Commission, said, “We just appreciate our veterans so much, what they give, this is really nothing to jump in the freezing ocean for a second compared to troops that are deployed overseas without their families for months and months, risking their lives. We're happy to do it, and we'll do anything we can to help and support our veterans.”

About the LIFT Veteran Home Repairs Fund
The LIFT (Local Initiative For Troops) program offers free home repairs that help local Veterans live safely and with dignity. Through this program, we have completed many projects, which include installing handicap ramps and rails, roof repairs and replacements, railing and stair repairs, HVAC upgrades, grab bar installations, widening walkways, yard cleanup, and much more.
