Employee At Manasquan High School Tests Positive For COVID-19
The Manasquan School District has informed parents, children and staff that an employee has tested positive for the coronavirus.

MANASQUAN – The Manasquan School District has informed parents, children and staff that an employee tested positive for the coronavirus this past week.
The district said the employee was last at Manasquan High School on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The district, along with the Monmouth County Health Department, immediately engaged in contract tracing to determine if the employee had close contact with any other people at school.
Close contact is defined by health officials as being within 6 feet of another person for 10 minutes or more.

Through this process, the district determined that no students were in close contact with the infected person. Any potential close contacts who are employees were made aware and the Department of Health worked to determine if they meet this definition.
Consistent with the district's plan, the building custodial staff implemented deep cleaning protocols, which included the application of chlorinated disinfecting spray. The spray is EPA-approved to neutralize COVID-19 on all surfaces in the building.

The custodial staff also inspected all filters in unit ventilators and rooftop HVAC units and vacuumed all supply and return vents in all classrooms, the district said. These measures were taken in addition to the normal enhanced cleaning protocols that are in place daily.
According to the district's restart and recovery plan, Manasquan will be notified of any positive COVID-19 cases for staff or students that occur as the town moves forward.
Schools were open Monday with the district's previously scheduled early dismissal schedule. Full school days began on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
