Firefighters Save Dog Trapped In Closet Of Burning Belmar Home
A German Shepherd trapped inside the closet of a burning home was rescued the Belmar Fire Department.
BELMAR, NJ — A German Shepherd trapped inside the closet of a burning home was rescued Friday night by the Belmar Fire Department.
The dog survived, and is currently recovering at Red Bank Animal Hospital at their new headquarters in Middletown, where he was rushed to by Wall Twp. EMS after being pulled from the home. The German Shepherd, Luca, was given emergency oxygen and rushed to the veterinary clinic.
"Thanks to the rapid actions of first responders on scene and continued care at the hospital, Luca is now stable and expected to recover," wrote Wall Twp. EMS.

The house fire broke out at 4:58 p.m. Friday on the 1200 block of Briarwood Road. Firefighters found a heavy fire coming from the back of the home, with two dogs reported trapped inside.
As firefighters battled to bring the fire under control, one dog was safely found outside the home.

Firefighters had to search for the second dog, however; he was found inside a first-floor closet and was pulled to safety by firefighters.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Belmar Fire Bureau and the Monmouth County Fire Marshall’s Office.
