MANASQUAN – The water department in Manasquan has begun its routine flushing of water mains.

The flushing will continue for approximately another two weeks.

The operation will take place from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Oct. 9th. Residents may get discolored water during this time.

If the water is discolored, run cold water until it runs clear.

The discoloration should clear up as the flushing moves out of your area. Experts suggest refraining from washing clothes until your water runs clear.

This operation typically allows an opportunity to check the function of all of the borough's fire hydrants, and it's necessary to flush out the water mains in order to provide the best quality water, officials said.
