Manasquan Switches Days To All-Remote Due To Snow, COVID-19
Manasquan has to switch to all-remote for several days because of the snow and the coronavirus. Here's when.

MANASQUAN – Manasquan schools switched to remote for several days over the course of the next week because of the snow and the coronavirus.
Manasquan will implement fully remote learning for all grade levels next week, Monday through Wednesday. The district's fully remote protocols will be implemented on these dates and both schools will be closed for in-person instruction.
And because of the continued winter storm and unavailability of school buses, the Manasquan School District transitioned to fully remote learning for Thursday and was operating on a 90-minute delayed opening schedule.

Manasquan High School's virtual bell schedule began at 9 a.m. and Manasquan Elementary School’s virtual bell schedule began at 9:55 am.
As the holiday recess draws near, the district’s administration and teachers fielded many requests from parents about keeping their children home from school in advance of the Christmas holiday, said Superintendent Frank Kasyan.

There are differing reasons for this, including the rising number of COVID cases in the state currently as well as families who wish to quarantine themselves before seeing family and friends for the holiday, Kasyan said.
"Our experience this year has shown us that our buildings are safe and our protocols for keeping students and staff healthy at school are working well," he said. "While I am firm in this belief, I do understand the need for families making their own decisions for their own health and safety before gathering with friends and loved ones during the holidays."
Since many of the district's families have made this decision already, Manasquan will implement fully remote learning for all grade levels next week, December 21 -23.
During this remote learning period, our buildings will be open if students need to retrieve materials, access technical support, etc.
To help assist parents, the district will be offering childcare options, free of charge, for grade PK-8 students at Manasquan Elementary School on these days where students can come to school and participate in their virtual classes.
"Please understand these decisions to close for in-person instruction are never easy," he said. "As I noted, however, given the number of student absences we are expecting next week, I believe this is the most prudent course."
