Monmouth County Serves Thousands at Distribution Centers

More than 200 cars an hour received supplies Friday at just one of three emergency distribution centers set up by Monmouth County.

The Circle Factory Outlet (former Peddler's Village site) in Wall served the needy all day, with local first responders and the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office working together to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy.

“First responders throughout Monmouth County — fire, first aid and EMS — are the unsung heroes of our recent disaster,” Sheriff Shaun Golden said. “We are grateful that so many people are working together as we all reach out to assist the victims of Hurricane Sandy.”

County officials report distribution to be efficient, with vehicles being routed by sheriff's officers in and out of the sites. Ralph Addonizio, captain of the Wall First Aid Squad, said each vehicle at Circle Factory Outlet waited an average of less than five minutes for supplies.

Supply lines at the Wall site were staffed by the Community First Aid Squad, Wall First Aid and Rescue Squad, South Wall Fire Company, Glendola Fire Company, Wall Fire Company 1 and members of the National Guard.

The three emergency distribution sites remain as follows for ice, water and food:.

• Holy Family Church – 910 Route 36 Hazlet
• Monmouth Park – Oceanport Ave., Oceanport
• Circle Factory Outlet  – (formerly known as the Peddler’s Village) 1407 Atlantic Ave. at the Route 35 circle, Wall.

Hours of availability are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
