New Building Guidelines On Agenda At Squan Council Meeting
The proposed ordinance sets new guidelines for the installation of fencing, generators, and hot tubs.

MANASQUAN, NJ – The Manasquan borough council is introducing an ordinance at Tuesday night’s council meeting setting new standards for installing fences, generators, hot tubs, or any other additions to a house.
According to the ordinance, any fence built 25 feet from the street line can’t be any more than six feet tall and four feet tall within 25 feet of the street line.
Other new requirements include no new deck can be installed higher than the highest finished floor of any building, and all standby generators can only be installed in the back yard with a five-foot side and back-yard setback and screened so that it can’t be seent by adjacent properties.

The proposed ordinance also states that no hot tub/spa/outdoor shower shall be located in any lot's front or side yard. The hot tub/spa/outdoor shower can not be located nearer than five feet to any lot line or closer to the side yard than the main structure on the lot, and the enclosure for a hot tub/spa/outdoor shower can’t be taller than 10 feet.
