Driver Injured As Car Hits Utility Pole On Route 530 In Manchester
The crash knocked out power to about 1,400 homes for a few hours Monday night, authorities said.
MANCHESTER, NJ — A Lacey Township woman suffered minor injuries Monday night when her car slid off an icy road and hit a utility pole, Manchester Township police said.
Julia Drennan, 19, from the Forked River section of Lacey, suffered a minor injury and refused medical attention at the scene, Manchester Capt. Albert Vega said.
Drennan was driving east on Route 530 about 9:40 p.m. Monday when she hit a patch of ice on the road and lost traction as she negotiated a curve and hit a utility pole between Cherry and Locus streets, Vega said.

The crash knocked out power for more than two hours to about 1,400 homes in the area, according to Jersey Central Power & Light. The road was closed for several hours and a detour was set up while JCP&L crews repaired the pole, Vega said.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Whiting Volunteer Fire Company. Patrolman Kamar Gainey of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash.
