JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — Residents who live around Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst may continue to see increased smoke in the area as the base fights a wildfire on its range area, officials said.

The base's fire department is continuing to fight the wildfire that is confined to the base range area, where training is conducted.

" Wildland crews successfully implemented back firing strategies which contained the fire in place," said Rochelle Naus, deputy chief of public affairs for the base. "Residents may see increased smoke as a result."
