Fall Hydrant Flushing Scheduled In Manchester

The Manchester Department of Utilities will be flushing hydrants. See when and what to expect for your water service.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township will be flushing fire hydrants in October and November, officials announced.

The Department of Utilities will be flushing the hydrants in the Eastern and Western service areas systematically, the announcement said.

Each community will be notified when flushing begins in their area. Flushing will be done during the day and at night, with varied hours.

While flushing is happening residents may see a reduction in water pressure, and afterward they may have discolored water.

The discoloration is the result of silt being stirred up from the flushing. Residents should let their cold water tap run until the discoloration clears, officials said.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," utilities officials said.
