Lakehurst Man Had Drugs, Drove While Suspended, Police Say

A busted taillight led to drug charges for a Lakehurst man this week, police said.

Officers Roberta Brooks and Matthew Kline spotted Andrew Neri, 31, with a blown brake lamp while patrolling Route 70 near Orchard Street Sunday, police said, and after running a check, found Neri was driving with a suspended license.

Neri was also carrying Suboxone, a semi-synthetic opioid drug, which the officers found when they arrested him, police said.

Neri was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended and maintenance of lamps for the brake light.

He was released on a summons pending a court date.
