Summer Water Restrictions A Success, Officials Say

Water restrictions on the east side of Manchester Township were a success, dropping peak water usage to the lowest level in the last several years and relieving anticipated strain on local resources, township officials said.

The mandatory lawn and landscape watering restrictions, which were just rescinded by the township, worked as planned to cut usage through the highest demand portion of the year, officials said.

“Your water conservation efforts helped control the peak water use this summer,” they said in a statement Thursday.

The restrictions went into place May 30 in an effort to less the strain on the township’s water infrastructure at the time, officials said, and cut watering during the hottest portion of the day and limited use to 30 minutes every other day.

The restrictions were officially lifted Sept. 11.
