Suspected Rabid Fox Spotted In Manchester; Minor Injuries Reported: PD
The fox was spotted in a residential neighborhood on Monday, and police said local wildlife authorities are looking out for it.
MANCHESTER, NJ — Police in Manchester are alerting residents about a potentially rabid fox spotted in the township earlier this week, and said several people reported minor injuries from the animal.
The fox was sighted in the areas of Cardinal Street, Swallow Street, Blue Jay Street, and Wilbur Avenue, police said. Animal Control, the Ocean County Health Department, and local wildlife authorities are monitoring the situation.
Any individuals who were hurt are receiving medical treatment, police said. Officials did not specify the nature of their injuries.

Police ask anyone who encounters a fox displaying "aggressive or abnormal behavior" to call them at 732-657-6111.
Rabies can be spread to people or other animals from the saliva of an infected animal, usually through a bite.
