Chinese Restaurant Delivery Driver Robbed In Maplewood: Police

The suspect placed a call for a delivery. When the worker showed up, he robbed them, police said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A delivery driver for a Chinese restaurant was robbed in Maplewood last week, authorities say.

The Maplewood Police Department said officers responded to Indiana Street around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 after getting a report about a robbery.

“After an on-scene investigation, it was determined that [the suspect] called a local Chinese restaurant and placed an order for delivery on Indiana Street. When the delivery person arrived at the location, the [suspect] grabbed the food, and demanded money from the delivery person … The [suspect] fled on foot into Union Township.”

The delivery person was not injured during the encounter, police said.

Authorities said the suspect was described as a male about 6 feet, wearing a black skull cap, black mask and black windbreaker-style jacket.
