First Black Man To Run Across America Will Visit Essex County Sunday

Hellah Sidibe will speak outside the Millburn Free Library on Sunday morning to tell his historic story.

MILLBURN, NJ — Hellah Sidibe, the first African American runner to complete the 3,061-mile journey from Los Angeles to New York, will be visiting Essex County on Sunday, May 22 to tell his historic
story.

The event will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Millburn Free Public Library Parking Lot (200 Glen Ave., Millburn, NJ) and will be followed by a fun run at approximately 10:10 a.m.

The fun run route will follow Brookside Road, a two-mile one-way stretch that is part of the South Mountain Reservation. The road is closed to traffic and should be safe for runners of all skill levels to participate.

Please note that the Millburn Free Public Library building is under renovation and will not be open to the public during this program.
