L. Frank Baum, Author of "The Wizard of Oz," Born on May 15,1856, would've loved rainbow-friendly Maplewood.
Sunday is celebrated as the birthday of prolific American author L. Frank Baum, who is most remembered for penning the children’s novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
The book, as most everyone knows, was made into numerous productions including the famous 1939 movie, “The Wizard of Oz,” starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. It tells the story of Dorothy searching for a way back to her aunt and uncle’s Kansas farm following a tornado that dropped her in a field in Munchkin County in the land of Oz. Baum followed up with a series of sequels about the wizard throughout his lifetime.
Dorothy eventually found her way back to home with a click of her heels and reciting the phrase, “There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s no... ."
