Gunfire In Maplewood, Suspect Arrested And Charged: Police

A Maplewood resident has been charged with several crimes in connection with gunfire that took place in the township, police said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A Maplewood resident has been charged with several crimes in connection with gunfire that recently took place in the township, authorities said.

According to the Maplewood Police Department, officers arrested Niles Robinson, 46, on March 2. Robinson had been considered a “person of interest” in a shooting investigation.

Robinson was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, police said.

Maplewood detectives announced additional charges against Robinson on March 13: possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes (second-degree), attempted aggravated assault (third-degree), two counts of criminal mischief (third-degree), and possession of a high-capacity magazine (fourth-degree).
