Holiday Glee Postponed In Maplewood
NJ's longest-running men's chorus had to postpone their annual show on Sunday, but they hope to bring back their humor and music soon.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A little holiday glee was postponed in Maplewood this past weekend, but not forever.
The Maplewood Glee Club — an all-male chorus founded in 1946 — had been preparing its annual family friendly show for this past Sunday, Dec. 11, but postponed it due to the rain and snow. READ MORE: First Snow Of Season Leaves Accumulation In Essex County: See Totals
But don't despair. The chorus, with 45 members from throughout the area, is working on a new date.

Known for their entertaining shows and humor, the long-running men’s chorus eventually plans to serve up a collection of “songs about joy and songs that bring joy” including “Sleigh Ride,”“Do You Want To Build a Snowman?” (from Disney’s Frozen), “Boogie Woogie Hanukkah,” “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” and “Joy To The World."
The Hickory Tree Chorus, an award-winning women’s barbershop group (and friends of the MGC), was hoping to attend Sunday, as well as violinist Gabriel Roth, a native of Maplewood and recent John A. Plumer Scholarship winner who currently studies at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music. Will they still be able to join? Wait and see.

“We look forward to this day all year long,” said Maplewood Glee Club president Josh Adler recently.
The Maplewood Glee Club is New Jersey’s longest-running men’s chorus, with 45 members representing dozens of North Jersey towns.
The show was to be livestreamed as well as held in person at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 767 Prospect St. Check back to find out when they're rescheduling.
