January Will Have Some Joy In Jersey, Thanks To NJ's Oldest Glee Club
The holidays are over and it'll probably snow either too much or too little. Have no fear: the Maplewood Glee Club is here.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Last month, a dangerous "bomb cyclone" prevented the longest-running glee club in New Jersey, composed of men from throughout North Jersey, from singing children's and adult favorite holiday carols in a show with the theme of "joy."
But as long as the weather cooperates, they will bring joy to Jersey in January instead.
Founded in 1946, the Maplewood Glee Club is New Jersey’s longest-running men’s chorus, with
45 members representing dozens of North Jersey towns.

They j ust announced the new date and time for their annual winter concert: Sunday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. The show will have in-person and virtual options.
The show will include a mix of pop classics and holiday-themed favorites, ranging from "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" from Disney's "Frozen" to “Sleigh Ride,” “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” “Sugar Sugar,” and “Joy To The World” (but not the one you think, they say).

The concert will feature local violinist Gabriel Roth, winner of the 2021 John A. Plumer Scholarship award.
“We can’t wait to share these songs,” said club president Josh Adler. “Yes, it might be weird to
hear holiday tunes in January, but some are about winter, one is about sugar, and they’re ALL
about joy which is timeless. Think of it as a way to extend the seasonal spirit.”
Tickets are required for the in-person concert, which is free for kids under 12. There's also a free virtual option requiring registration: https://forms.gle/9rvJy9SNt81GGA7m7
The in-person concert will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 767 Prospect Street in Maplewood. Details and tickets (as well as information about "open sings" for prospective members) can be found at www.maplewoodgleeclub.com or at the Maplewood Glee Club Facebook page.
