Man Arrested In Maplewood Was Driving Car Involved In Newark Hit-And-Run: Police
A traffic stop in Maplewood led to an arrest and DUI charges against an East Orange resident. Newark police also responded to the scene.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A recent traffic stop in Maplewood led to an arrest and DUI charges against an East Orange resident, with Newark police also responding to the scene.
According to the Maplewood Police Department, an officer stopped a 2009 Honda Accord on Springfield Avenue on Aug. 23.
The vehicle matched the description of a hit-and-run involving multiple cars in Newark, authorities said.

Maplewood police eventually arrested the driver – a 51-year-old East Orange resident – and charged him with driving under the influence.
Officers from the Newark Police Department also responded to the scene as part of their investigation of the hit-and-run, Maplewood police said.
