They say, "The show is a collection of uplifting songs about hope and optimism and features crowd-pleasers like 'Here Comes the Sun,' 'Lean on Me,' 'Blue Skies,' 'For Good' from the Broadway musical Wicked, and – of course – Monty Python’s 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.' "

Known for their harmony and good humor, the Maplewood Glee Club will also welcome two special guest choirs from Columbia High School – Canens Vocem and Excelsior Singers.

Soprano Sophie Havens, recipient of the 2023 John A. Plumer Memorial Scholarship, will also perform as well as conduct the group on one of their songs.

"We’re thrilled to have such talented performers joining us for this concert," said Josh Adler, the Glee Club's president. "It’ll be an afternoon of good music, good fun, and lots of surprises. The good kind, of course!"

In addition to the special guests, the Glee Club's two small groups, the Unusual Suspects and the Doo-Wop Preservation Society, will perform their own renditions of songs from the bright side like Billy Joel’s “River of Dreams” and “Mama Said” by the Shirelles.

“The Bright Side” takes place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 767 Prospect St. in Maplewood.
