Maplewood Homeowner Catches 2 Intruders In Afternoon: Police

Maplewood police shared their reports from the past week.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Maplewood police shared their recent reports at the end of last week, noting two burglaries or attempted burglaries.

On Thursday, June 1, Maplewood Police Officers responded to a residence on Parker Avenue after a call regarding a residential burglary. The resident of the home reported coming home at around 2:45 p.m. to see two males on the property. Then, the men ran toward Union Avenue, the homeowner said.

The resident described the first male as approximately 5’10 in height, wearing a tan beach print short sleeve shirt, a black head covering, and black gloves. The second male was described as approximately 5’10” in height, wearing a white and blue flannel long sleeve shirt, dark colored pants, and a white hat.

Nothing was reported missing, police said, and the homeowner wasn't confronted.

Also that day, at approximately 11:00 a.m., a resident of Newark told police that she had parked her vehicle on Baldwin Road and left it unlocked. When she returned, she realized her purse containing personal items had been taken from it.
