Maplewood And South Orange Release July 4 Plan: Pool Parties, Bike Parade, No Fireworks
Maplewood and South Orange won't have July 4 fireworks, but here's got a list of other Essex locations that do, plus the local events.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood and South Orange have planned a day of activities for July 4 this year, but no fireworks. The list of events is below. Meanwhile, if you want fireworks, there are many Essex County towns who'll be putting on a display Independence Day — and we've also got a link to a list below of those, too.
Here is what's planned for Maplewood and South Orange:
Youth Bike Parade, 10 a.m.

Maplewood and South Orange families are invited to participate in the Youth Bike Parade at 10 a.m. The Parade starts at Ricalton Square, Maplewood and ends in Memorial Park North. Refreshments will be served. The town says, "Be sure to have the kids decorate their bikes with streamers and other fun and festive items."
Two Town Pool Parties, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

South Orange and Maplewood Pools are open to all residents of either town Current pool members can still bring guests from outside of the towns, paying regular guest fees. South
Orange Pool will host inflatables, balloon animals, corn hole games and more. Free red, white & blue bomb pops for the first 500 visitors.

(NOTE: Several July 4 websites are still up promising fireworks in South Orange and in Maplewood, but these are several years old — like this one in South Orange and this one in Maplewood. In fact, the latter wound up on a cable news channel's list of 2022 displays.)

Meanwhile, there will be all-day July 4 events and fireworks in Livingston, Millburn, and West Orange, as well as concerts and fireworks other nights in Essex County.
