Maplewood's Newest Business Opening Is Something To Bark About

Two new businesses have come to the Springfield Avenue area in the last 3 weeks: A pet supply store and a shop selling items for the home.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Does your pooch or kitty need something under the tree? Maplewood resident Rick Engler opened Springfield Avenue's newest shop on Saturday, catering to the area's pets.

Baxter's Pet Supply opened its doors at 1874 Springfield Ave., formerly the home of the Fringe Salon.

"There is great selection of pet food, treats, toys, and accessories — all available while you shop local," noted the Springfield Avenue Partnership this week.

"We've met you in the park, on the street, and passing the new sign on Springfield Avenue! We can't thank you enough for your enthusiasm and kindness over the last few months," said the founders.

Just Around The Corner

Meanwhile, a new design studio called SPACES has arrived around the corner from Baxter on Prospect Street. SPACES opened at the end of November.

At the shop, founder Hollie Velten and studio director Victoria Bailey-Adamson sell "a charming selection of pillows and fabrics for the home," says the Partnership.

Velten has been a designer and researcher for companies like Anthropologie, Walmart, and Trend Bible Baby.

The shop is located at 745 Prospect St.
