SOMA Adult School And Kids' Camp Now Taking Registrations

The SOMA Adult School, founded in 1933, offers spring and summer courses for adults and two camp sessions for kids.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School, founded in 1933 during the Great Depression, is now taking registrations for its two summer camp sessions and for dozens of courses for adults in spring and summer.

Spring course offerings range from knitting to photography to cake decorating glass blowing.

The organization even offers day trips, such as a beach walk and an eco cruise, all at reasonable prices.

Some courses are for parents and children, such as "What To Expect In Middle School: A 5th Graders Guide To Staying Organized."

The school is the oldest operating Adult School in NJ and was named a Local Legacy in 2000 by the Library of Congress.

"We strive to keep our class prices down so that we continue the tradition that our school was founded upon," notes the school, "a community school where people can gather to learn, stay informed, and be entertained."
