Three Robbed at Gunpoint in Maplewood Saturday

A Maplewood man and two youths were robbed within hours of each other on Saturday, Sept. 28, police say.

Three men were robbed at gunpoint in Maplewood, Saturday, according to a report by the Maplewood Police Department.

A young man was walking near the intersection of Jacoby St. and Springfield Ave. at 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 when he was approached by two males who appeared to be in their 20's, police said.

“One of the males displayed a handgun and struck the juvenile with it before stealing his phone,” police said.

The young victim told police that he heard two shots as the two men fled.

A South Orange youth was walkin on alley St. near Crowell Pl. at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday when he we was approached by a man in his late teens with a handgun. The man pointed the gun and took the boy's wallet and cell phone before fleeing North on Valley St., police said.

A Maplewood man was walking on Springfield Ave. near Colgate Ave. at 9:15 p.m. on Saturday when he was hit on the head by an unknown person. His cell phone and glasses were stolen.

Another robbery occurred on Monday, Sept. 3 at 10 p.m., police said.

A man walked into Quick Chek on Springfield Ave. in Maplewood, brandished a handgun and emptied the cash register. He then got into a car and drove East on Springfield Ave.

All incidents are currently under investigation by the Maplewood Detective Bureau.
