FREE GLUCOSE SCREENINGS
Thursday, February 12 & 26 from 11 a.m. to noon
A simple finger stick to test blood sugar to determine if glucose level is elevated. The test will be performed by a registered nurse. This program will be held at the Center for Diabetes Education at Monmouth Medical Center, Classroom #A001 in the Maysie Stroock Pavilion, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. CREATING HEALTH: HOW TO IDENTIFY AND OVERCOME 10 HIDDEN OBSTACLES TO LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Jill Garaffa, OTR/L, PCC, ELI-MP, a licensed occupational therapist with over 25 years of clinical experience and professional certified life coach, will teach you how to close the gap between knowing what to do to make healthier choices and actually doing it. WOMEN’S HEALTH: PERIMENOPAUSE

Perimenopause is an extended transitional state beginning with irregular menstrual cycles as the ovaries gradually begin to make less estrogen. Women start perimenopause at different ages and may notice signs of progression towards menopause during this time. This information session, presented by Robert Graebe, MD, Chairman & Program Director, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Monmouth Medical Center, will discuss the signs and symptoms, common concerns, diagnosis and treatment options for perimenopausal symptoms. GERIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Emergency departments are increasingly challenged with the complexities of providing care for geriatric patients. In response, Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus have introduced Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) units to their hospitals. In this program, presented by Victor Almeida, DO, Chair, Emergency Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, Dr. Almeida will discuss the benefits of the GEM units as well as how you can recognize the signs of an emergency. Tours are designed to reduce anxiety giving children a hands-on experience with medical equipment and visitation to areas they will encounter on the day of their surgery.
