REAL ID is a new federal requirement for state-issued driver's licenses and non-driver IDs to help prevent fraudulent identification, according to the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission.

While not all residents are required to get a REAL ID, you must have a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license/ID to fly within the U.S., unless you use a U.S. passport or another federally approved form of identification.
