
The Colts Neck Township Committee adopted an ordinance last week setting pay increases for police officers and Department of Public Works Employees, according to a report in the News Transcript.
According to the report, police officers will receive a 2-percent raise effective Jan. 1. Public works employees will receive a 1-percent increase on Jan. 1 and another 1- percent increase on July 1, according to the report.
Salaries for patrolmen in 2014 will range from $36,865 for an officer on the first step of the salary guide to $98,251 for an officer who is in his 11th year on the force. Corporals will earn $102,300, sergeants will earn $108,637, the lieutenant will earn $111,637 and the chief will earn $114,637, according to the report. Police officers who were hired before 2012 will receive an annual education incentive of $700 for an associate’s degree, $1,500 for a bachelor’s degree and $2,400 for a master’s degree, according to the ordinance, according to the News Transcript.
