Man allegedly pushed store employee during Nov. 7 incident

An Aberdeen man remains in custody after police said he robbed a Route 34 supermarket earlier this month.

Christopher M. Byrnes, 28, allegedly pushed a store employee after he was confronted about whether he had taken items from the Stop and Shop on Nov. 7, according to township police.

Byrnes then fled from the store on foot, police said, but was caught on Lloyd Road. Officer Anthony Marone made the arrest with assistance from Sgt. Raymond Sosa.

An investigation found that Byrnes allegedly had also taken items from the ShopRite store on Lloyd Road, according to police.

Byrnes remains in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $75,000 bail, according to department of corrections records.
