Aberdeen Opens Cooling Centers Thursday And Friday

The Fiorendo Sigismondi Community Center and the George Hausmann Senior Center will be open as cooling centers.

ABERDEEN, NJ — The Sigjsmondi Center on Prospect Avenue will be open as a cooling center from 12-7 p.m. Thursday.

A cooling center at the Fiorendo Sigismondi Community Center, located at 651 Prospect Ave, has been established Thursday and Friday (August 12-13) from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. both days. Any Aberdeen resident is welcome to come inside and be in their air conditioned public space.

On Friday, the George Hausmann Senior Center (Hudson Ridge Senior Center) located at 98 Church Street, will also be open from 12:00 - 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for most of New Jersey; it is in effect through Thursday night.

Forecasters are predicting "dangerously hot conditions," with heat index values around 105 on Wednesday and 110 on Thursday. Heat index values mean what it feels like.
