Adopt a Rescue Dog This Holiday Season

A local animal rescue organization is looking for homes for these pooches.

Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue (CODAR) is an Aberdeen-based, non-profit canine rescue group that takes in dogs from high-kill shelters and puppy mills along the east coast and works to find them any necessary medical attention, foster care and a forever home.

This week CODAR has sent Patch four dogs looking for a permanent, loving home. If you are interested in adopting any of the animals in the slideshow, fill out the application online atwww.castle-of-dreams.com.

Toby, Hermey, Rudolph and Princess are part of a litter of five rescued from a South Carolina gas shelter. They look like Shepherd-Terrier mixes. All are very cute and playful. About 3 months old, up to date on shots, and neutered. They would love to find their forever families and be home for the holidays.

Ethel

Ethel has been waiting for her forever home for way too long. She’s a sweet, shy little lady who was rescued from a hoarding situation in New York City where she was kept with 130 other dogs in a studio apartment. Her foster mom says she’s really coming out of her shell now and ready to go to her forever family. Spayed, up to date on vaccinations and ready to be your new best friend.

Gus

Gus is a long haired Doxie rescued from a Sanctuary gone under. He is such a happy guy, full of love and life. When we first took him he was playing with a rock, but once brought to his foster homes and given a few toys, he is the happiest little guy around. He loves playing with toys! He is such a love, and to think he may not have had toys for the first part of his life really breaks our hearts. He gets along with other dogs, he barks at cats a little, but it seems he only wants to play with them. Great being held, with children, and just about anyone.

Dime

Dime’s family is heartbroken but have fallen on hard times and have no choice but to surrender the dog they love. He’s approximately 6 months old, a lab mix who has been with his family since he was a baby. The family says Dime is a good boy. They’re hoping there's someone out there who will love him and make him part of part of a family again.

Minni

Minnie was a bit timid at first, but within a day warmed up to people and got along with everyone. She’s really very sweet, loves toys, other dogs, kids and she’s good with cats. Minnie feels safe in her crate and goes there to hang out, but she loves other dogs and likes to play. Minnie is a tiny girl, so she won't take up much room in your home, but we know she’ll take up tons of room in your heart once you meet her.
