Volunteers Needed: Mott Street Bridge Clean Up in Keyport

Directions: From Rt 36 Broad Street Keyport left on Maple 1/4 mile west between Beers Street and Luppatatong Ave.

Meet-up Location: Maple Pl between Beers & Luppatatong St, Keyport, NJ

Parking: Maple Place on street at the culvert crossing Lupatatong Creek

Description: Prior to the construction of a culvert on Maple Place between Beers St and Lupatatong Ave there had been a bridge called the Mott Street Bridge which spans the Lupatatong Creek east to west. The creek empties into the Raritan Bay by Keport Fishery and the Ye Cottage Inn which since Sandy was demolished. The culvert accumulates debris from tidal surge, upstream storm water runoff and wind bourne road surface litter. Our objective is to cleanup along the roadside and down to the creek edge thus preventing the debris from entering the creek and bay.
