Board of Ed Student Representative Recognized for Year of Service
The Matawan Regional High School senior will graduate in June
Matawan Regional High School senior and student representative to the Board of Education Matthew Tomasello delivered his final report at the board's regular action meeting Monday night.
"Matt is graduating on June 15 and he has served the district with great character and dedication," said Board President Charles Kenny before calling Tomasello to the podium to recieve a certificate of appreciation.
Tomasello was sworn in as the student representative on Sept. 26, 2011. It was his duty to report on the happenings in each school in the district at the Board of Education meetings.

Tomasello is the president of the National Honor Society, president of the Math Club, co-president of , a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions, a member of the Math, Science and Foreign Language Honor Societies and a member of the International Thespian Society. Tomasello has taken part in multiple school theater productions, including playing Mr. Potter in "It's a Wonderful Life" in 2011 and playing a member of the Gamblers' Ensemble in "Guys & Dolls" in 2012. The ensemble is .
Tomasello is also a life scout with the Aberdeen-Matawan Boy Scouts Troop 66, an AP scholar, placed third in improvisational speaking in a state competition, received an All American Award for Forensics and Academic Excellence, and last but not least, he is the Husky Mascot.

"On behalf of the district, I'd like to acknowledge Matt's superior academic and public speaking abilities and commend him for being a role model to all students," Kenny said.
Tomasello received an academic scholarship from Rutgers University, where he will study English in the fall.
