Cliffwood Man Found Floating In Hackensack River

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a body floating in the river under the Pulaski Skyway.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A man found floating in the Hackensack River Tuesday afternoon has been identified as Ryan Linington, 49, of Cliffwood, announced Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a body floating underneath the Pulaski Skyway. Responding officers located a man — later identified as Linington — floating in the water.

He was removed from the water by the Jersey City Fire Department and was pronounced dead at approximately 7:30 p.m.

At this stage of the investigation, the death does not appear to be suspicious. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
