Feature Film Shot in Matawan Premiering on Jan. 9

"My Brother's Girlfriend", a local feature film, will premiere Jan. 9, 2015 at The Duncan Smith Theater in Holmdel. Tickets are now on sale.

Native Staten Islander and current Monmouth County resident Nicholas Marchese will have his first feature film, “My Brother’s Girlfriend”, premiere at the Holmdel, New Jersey’s Duncan Smith Theater on January 9, 2015, at 8 p.m. Following the premiere will be two additional screenings on Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 11 at 3 p.m.

“My Brothers Girlfriend” is a dramatic comedy that shows a realistic perspective on what is seen as societies new social norms. The film centers around 18-year-old high school graduate, Chadwick Hensen (played by Joseph Scarpino), who is shown as thrust into the modern day world, with no real sense of direction, social skills or parental discipline. Without motivation or initiative, he falls into many of the dangers that many of today’s teens face. Shadowing Chad’s life is the idolization by his parents of their older, more charismatic and seemingly more intelligent son, Eric Hensen (played by Joseph Lacerda). Their support and encouragement is seen in sharp contrast in the film from Chad’s perspective.

In the film, Chad chooses to spend his days lost in routine. His brotherly feud is kept in line with the main character’s younger yet, surprisingly, wiser brother, Michael Hensen (Matthew Muscarello). When Eric comes home after graduating college with a surprise girlfriend, Shelby (Kelsey Potkay), differences between the brothers, as well as two social classes, clash in a series of escalating events. Through an uncanny destiny, one relationship falls victim to failure and then gives growth to a new one that results in an eruption of hidden emotions and new self-discoveries that make this film one many different people can familiarize with in any number of complex family dynamics and relationships.
