Help a Child Suffering from Illness, Trauma or Loss
Sometimes all a child needs is a hug. Project Linus volunteers make blankets, bibs and hats for children in need of comfort
Project Linus, NJ, Inc., known locally as the Blankie Depot, is looking for volunteers and donations to help them continue their mission of making a difference in the lives of fragile New Jersey children and their families.
Blankie Deport is an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization headquartered in Monmouth County that serves children across the state in need of comfort through the gift of handmade items, such as blankets, hats, plush toys, bibs, pajamas or overnight bags.
Each year more than 33,000 of these items are created by volunteers and donated to children undergoing medical illness, cancer treatment, family loss and trauma.

Blankie Depot has more than 7,300 volunteers throughout the state who create these handmand "hugs" for children, including several who meet regularly at Starbucks in Matawan to sew as a group.
“Blanketeers” range in age and skill levels; creating one of a kind quilts, knit and crochet afghans, no sew fleece covers, infant hats, preemie layettes, pillow cases, overnight bags and totes, baby bibs, pajamas, children’s sweaters and handcrafted toys.

As an all-volunteer organization, Blankie Depot has relied upon the generosity of its long-standing volunteers, corporate sponsors and foundations.
All financial and inkind support is made in the charities legal name: Project Linus NJ, Inc. and is tax-deductible. 100% of all contributions underwrite the cost of service learning workshops, new skeins of yarn, knit and crochet supplies, yards of fabric, sewing and quilting notions, office necessities and annual communications both on and off the web.
“Over the years we have been extremely fortunate to attract the support of incredibly talented, compassionate crafting men, women and student volunteers. More than a decade later, we have a highly organized, weekly donation service in support of fragile New Jersey children” says Hillary Roberts, Founder and President.
“Volunteers demonstrate that community services remain a vital resource bridging difficult gaps needed more than ever during the most challenging economic times,” Roberts continued. “We will always welcome sincere volunteer commitments.”
