3 Men Tried To Break Into Sayreville Home Tuesday Night: Police

At 8:20 p.m., Sayreville Police responded to a 911 call from a Rhode Street home that men tried to break in through a rear window.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — Three men and a teenager tried to break into a home in Sayreville Tuesday night in an attempt to get the keys to the homeowner's luxury vehicle, police said.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sayreville Police responded to a 911 call from a Rhode Street home that multiple individuals tried to break in through a rear window.

The resident provided officers with detailed descriptions of the men, who had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers canvassed the area and located four people who fit the description walking on Main Street near Stacey Avenue.

When approached by police, one of the people fled on foot, while the remaining three were taken into custody. A continued search led officers to the fourth suspect, who was found hiding inside a car, believed to be the getaway vehicle. The suspect was subsequently arrested, and the vehicle was impounded.

The men have been identified as Keeshawn Browning, 31, Michael Jones, 26, and Rashad Lewis, 26, all from Jersey City, along with a 16-year-old juvenile, also from Jersey City.

Jones was charged with Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Defacement of a Weapon, Eluding, and Use of a 17-Year-Old or Younger to Commit a Criminal Offense. Browning was charged with Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, and Use of a 17-Year-Old or Younger to Commit a Criminal Offense. Lewis was charged with Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Defacement of a Weapon, and Use of a 17-Year-Old or Younger to Commit a Criminal Offense.

The 16-year-old juvenile was charged with burglary.

Preliminary investigations indicate the men were targeting the homeowner’s luxury vehicle; police did not released the make and model.
