The officer was sworn in at the June 7 township council meeting

The Township of Aberdeen swore in a new police officer at their council meeting Tuesday night.

John Zeller stood at the front of the room and took the oath of allegiance and public service while his mother held the bible. Once sworn in, his officer pin was placed on his uniform officially making him P.O. John Zeller.

Zeller is a lifelong Aberdeen resident who graduated from Saint John Vianney in 2004. He joined the United States Air Force in January of 2006 and served in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 25-year-old still serves in the reserves for the National Guard.
