At 7:18 p.m. that evening, Franklin Township Police received a 911 call from a witness reporting animal cruelty in the area of Somerset Street. Witnesses told police that a man, later identified as Storey, went inside a store on Somerset Street, leaving his Husky dog in his car. The Husky got out of the car and was wandering around a nearby parking lot.

A passerby found the dog and was able to tie him up outside. When Storey returned and was told his dog got out of the car, he walked up to the dog and repeatedly kicked and struck the animal, said police. Storey then put the dog back in his car, continuing to strike and kick him, said police.

At one point, Storey picked up a saw and was striking the dog with the blade of the saw, said police.

He then left the area. Franklin Police saw Storey driving and they tried to pull him over. But he eluded the officers by not stopping for several miles and at one point struck a Franklin Township police vehicle, causing damage to both the police vehicle and his own car.

At this point, officers terminated the pursuit. Storey was arrested June 10 in Perth Amboy by Perth Amboy Police for a prior unrelated warrant out of that town.

The three-year-old Husky was located in a nearby animal shelter. The dog was in the animal shelter after Franklin Township Animal Control was notified of an unattended dog wandering a residential area. The dog will be examined for injuries.
