Results Of Primary Election In Matawan-Aberdeen

Here are unofficial results as vote counts come in Tuesday night.

ABERDEEN, NJ — Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill is the projected winner of the Democratic primary for NJ governor, and Jack Ciattarelli will be the Republican nominee. The two will face off in November in what will likely be a very heated race to be New Jersey's next governor.

These are not official results, which take several days for county clerks to certify. Here are the early returns and projected winners:

  • Current Councilman Gregory Cannon, Democrat: 1,484 votes
  • Mark Bishop, Republican: 1,058 votes

2 Council seats (choose two):

  • Current Councilwoman Margaret Montone, Democrat: 1,443
  • Pedro Mirabal, Democrat: 1,261
  • Lauren Ramos, Republican: 904
  • Michael LaCorte, Republican: 941

  • Assemblyman Gerry Scharfenberger, Republican: Projected winner with 39% of the vote, according to the New York Times
  • Assemblywoman Vicky Flynn, Republican: Projected winner with 34% of the vote, according to the New York Times
  • Middletown resident Rich Castaldo, Republican

Monmouth County Sheriff (choose one)

  • Current Sheriff Shaun Golden, Republican
  • Michael Warren, Democrat

Monmouth County Clerk

  • Danielle Bellomo (Republican): 13,172 votes
  • Christine Giordano Hanlon (Republican): 32,500 votes, projected winner
  • Democrats: Alison DeNoia

Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners
