Sayreville Teen, 16, Shot And Killed East Brunswick Teen, Police Say

A 16-year-old Sayreville teen boy is accused of shooting a 17-year-old East Brunswick teen Friday night, killing him.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — A 16-year-old Sayreville teen boy is accused of shooting a 17-year-old East Brunswick teen boy, killing him.

At 10:58 p.m. Friday, Sayreville Police received 911 call reporting shots fired on Woods Edge Court in the Parlin section of Sayreville. When officers responded to that street, they discovered a 17-year-old man from East Brunswick with a gunshot wound. The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation led by Detective Mark Nairooz of Sayreville Police Department and Detective Ryan Kirsh of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office led to the arrest of a 16-year-old Sayreville teen, who will not be identified by name as he is a minor.

The two teens knew each other prior to the incident.

The teen was arrested and charged with acts of juvenile delinquency for offenses which if committed by an adult would constitute Murder, Possession of a Handgun for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun and Armed Riot.

He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting a preliminary hearing before a Family Court judge.
