Do Residents Need Another Walgreens?
A deal was recently brokered between Walgreens and the landloard at a vacated Exxon at the intersection of Cliffwood Rd. and Matawan Rd.
The vacated Exxon gas station at the intersection of Cliffwood Road and Matawan Road, directly on the border of Matawan and Old Bridge, may become a Walgreens.
According to a press release, R.J. Brunelli & Co., LLC finalized a series of leases with major retailers, restaurants and financial services tenants on sites throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Among the leases completed was a deal between Walgreens and the landlord of 39 Matawan Road, LLC, where the gas station is located. The drug store chain plans to build a 12,705-square-foot freestanding store on the site, according to the press release.

Two other pharmacies are currently located at the same intersection, including a and .
R.J. Brunelli & Co. LLC, according to the release, is the same company the brokered the deal that brough Dollar Tree to Route 34 in Aberdeen.

The plan for the Walgreens will have to be approved by the Old Bridge Township Planning/Zoning Board.
