Woman, 57, Hit And Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Perth Amboy: Police
A 57-year-old woman was killed in a hit and run Thursday night in Perth Amboy, and a Perth Amboy man has been charged with the crime.
PERTH AMBOY, NJ — A 57-year-old woman was killed in a hit and run Thursday night in Perth Amboy, and a Perth Amboy man has been charged with the crime.
At 6:20 p.m. Friday, Gladis Ruiz, 57, of Elizabeth, was hit by a 2010 Hyundai Sonata on Elm Street between Market Street and Riverview Drive in Perth Amboy. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Police say Ruiz was crossing Elm Street on her way home from work when she was struck by the Sonata, which fled the scene.

The driver of the Sonata, Jarleidys A. Bautista, 23, of Perth Amboy, was arrested without incident Friday and charged with second-degree Leaving the scene of an accident and third-degree endangering an injured victim.
Bautista is being held at the Middlesex County jail pending the results of a Pre-Trial Detention Hearing.
