Actor Paul Sorvino's Brother, Successful Psychiatrist Dies at 82

To say A. Ronald Sorvino is part of an accomplished family would be a vast understatement.

The successful doctor of psychiatry died Monday at the age of 82.

Sorvino, born in Brooklyn, lived in Short Hills, then Mendham before retiring to Naples, Florida, and happens to be the older brother of actor Paul Sorvino and uncle of actress Mira Sorvino.

Ronald Sorvino served in the United States Navy as a lieutenant commander from 1962-1964 where he was the Chief of Psychiatry for the Newport Naval Hospital, and operated a private practice at Overlook Hospital for more than 30 years.

Sorvino’s children took the family’s success and ran with it. He is survived by two sons and four daughters, five of which are either doctors or lawyers.

Sorvino is also survived by his wife, Barbara, also a doctor, and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bailey Funeral Homes in Mendham.
