Several attempts to break into vehicles have been made in the township in the last 12 hours, according to police.

MENDHAM, NJ — Following several vehicle theft attempts this week, members of the Mendham Township Police Department have issued a public safety alert.

According to police, several attempts to break into vehicles have been made in the township in the last 12 hours.

The first theft attempt occurred around 4 a.m. in the Drakewick area, and the most recent occurred within the last hour along Rt. 24 and Corey Lane/Brookside.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant in the fight against motor vehicle theft by locking their car doors, removing key fobs and garage door openers from their vehicles, and reporting any suspicious activity to the police.
